Q: How does your photography team work with our staff and children?
A: We take great pride and care with each and every child that we photograph. We work closely with the teachers who provide us help with each child. Every child is different, and every day for them is different as they grow and learn.
Sometimes, children may have experieced a series of events in their day that prevents them from putting on their biggest smile for their pictures. And other children may not be as comfortable with getting their school pictures taken yet. It is amazing how many children we photograph from year to year and see their growth both physically and socially. We often get wonderful comments from parents who had their expressionless child from the year before turn into a child who beams brilliantly with smiles a year later.
We offer our services as part of their education in growing and learning socially. We are friendly, excited and encouraging, and we do not force anything upon any child. We cannot make a child who does not smile on a regular basis all of a sudden turn it on for a stranger holding a camera.
Our goals with every child that we photograph is to send home professional portraits that capture the beauty and character of each child, and pictures that parents love!
Q: What to Wear on Picture Day
A: Rules for what to wear are that there are no rules. With that said, general guidelines for what to wear are solid colors that are preferably more subdued colors that enhance skin tones and don't detract from the child's expression. Be careful, bright colors really jump out and can compete against flesh tones. We recommend long or short-sleeved tops opposed to sleeveless clothing. It is usually recommended to not have logos on clothing as this is considerred distracting, however your child's personality should come first over a guideline or rule. Bottom line, have your child wear what you would like to remember them in. Think about your school pictures not only for use this year, but also as a long-term documentation of your child's growth. Just about any picture taken today will become a valued memory in the years to come.
Q: Wearing Accessories
A: Choose accessories that won't detract from your portrait. Simple earrings, necklaces, and hair adornments are timeless and usually do enhance a portrait.
Q: What is a copyright release?
A: Even though you may purchase school portraits of your child, the original image remains the property of SchooldayPortraits. This original image cannot be photocopied or reproduced in any way without the company's written consent because it's against the Federal Copyright Laws. You may request a Copyright Release to reproduce the images for your own personal use. Please call our studio with your request.
Q: How will I know picture day is coming?
A: Your school will distribute Picture Order Envelopes and Reminder Notices one or two weeks before picture day. There will also be Bulletin Board Posters hung around the school. Most schools also publicize Picture Day in school newsletters, school calendars and during morning announcements.
Q: How does the Prepay Program work?
A: Picture Order Envelopes are sent home to parents one to two weeks prior to Picture Day. Parents select a picture package and return the completed Picture Order Envelope with payment to their child's teacher before picture day. Your child's teacher will bring the Picture Order Envelope to the photographer and the picture package you requested will be printed.
Finished pictures will be delivered back to your school within four weeks of picture day. Additional copies of your portraits can be reordered. See the instructions printed on your order envelope.
Q: What if I don't like my picture?
A: All of our portraits are Satisfaction Guaranteed, so relax and take advantage of the most convenient way to order professional portraits of your children. Make sure that you still show enthusiam and excitement for your child's pictures and if you choose to schedule a retake session, talk to your child and let them know that their pictures came out so nice that you would like to get more pictures taken so you can have extra for grandparents or someone else who is special in your child's life.
Q: Methods of Payment...
A: Checks and cash are accepted. We cannot process credit cards on-site at school locations. Check your Picture Order Envelope for the payment options available to you.
Q: Should my child wear glasses for the picture?
A: If your child wears glasses most of the time, then by all means, have them photographed in their glasses. We will adjust our lights to minimize reflection in the lenses.
Q: Will you comb my child's hair?
A: We look at each child being photographed and we do have adult helpers and teacher who can help out your child for the picture. We try to catch the little things too, such as flip collars, stray hair and jewelry placement. While we try hard to make sure everything is perfect, there are always things that make us who we are.
